Romania trip cost guide
How much does a trip to Bucharest cost?
Separate OTP and BBU arrivals and add the hotel leg from Gara de Nord. Plan a Bucharest stay around official Palace of Parliament visit guidance.
Lodging-only examples for 3, 5, 7 nights
Planning estimates for two travelers sharing one room, lodging only. They are not live quotes and not a total trip budget: flights, food, transfers, local transport, activities and fees are excluded. A price you enter in the calculator always replaces these estimates. Totals are calculated from the nightly rate and rounded to whole euros.
| Travel style | Per night | 3 nights | 5 nights | 7 nights |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | €65 | €195 | €325 | €455 |
| Normal | €100 | €300 | €500 | €700 |
| Comfort | €165 | €495 | €825 | €1,155 |
| Luxury | €300 | €900 | €1,500 | €2,100 |
Arriving in Bucharest
Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) has a published railway connection to București Nord. That station is the arrival hub, not the Old Town, so include the next journey to the hotel when comparing the train with a direct road transfer. Bucharest Băneasa–Aurel Vlaicu Airport (BBU), if shown on the flight booking, requires a different route. Confirm the gateway before choosing accommodation around an airport connection.
Airport transfers are a separate budget line. Where a reliable fare is not available, Fareveal shows it as unknown rather than zero.
Getting around Bucharest
Bucharest’s central programme can mix neighbourhood walking with transport between more distant stops. A hotel near Gara de Nord suits railway connections, while an Old Town base changes the first and last leg of each journey. Map a Palace of Parliament visit separately from restaurant streets and other cultural stops. An accommodation address near a station is useful only when the station entrance and onward route actually work for the visit.
A budget trade-off
An Old Town stay suits evenings and a central walking programme, whereas a station-area hotel can be convenient before a rail departure. Compare noise preferences, luggage handling and the actual daily route alongside room cost. A day trip outside Bucharest can require an early start and a return connection; count it separately. An airport hotel may solve a flight-specific need but should not be treated as equivalent to a central sightseeing base.
Attractions and discretionary spending
The Palace of Parliament is an organised interior visit, with official visitor information published by the parliamentary conference centre. Confirm the current booking method, access instructions and required identification directly before committing the rest of the day around it. Exterior viewing and an interior tour are different experiences. Choose other museums individually and check a guided tour’s admissions, so a transport-and-guide product is not mistaken for a complete set of entrance tickets.
Official sources
Two ways this budget can change
- Bucharest city weekend: use a central base for neighbourhood walks and organise the Palace of Parliament visit around official booking instructions.
- Romanian rail itinerary: choose accommodation for the Gara de Nord connection, adding the OTP transfer and selected city outings as separate journeys.
Fees and easy-to-miss costs
Fareveal does not yet publish a verified local-fee amount for Bucharest. Confirm any mandatory charges on your booking before treating a total as final. Entry and visa rules depend on each traveler.
Worth checking
- Confirm OTP versus BBU on the ticket.
- Add Gara de Nord-to-hotel transport.
- Check Palace of Parliament booking and identification guidance.
- Distinguish exterior sightseeing from an interior tour.
- Cost any regional day trip separately.
