Arriving in Florence
Florence's Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR), at Peretola, connects to the city by the T2 tram. The city's official guide describes a route through Santa Maria Novella and onward to San Marco, so choose a stop for the actual hotel. An arrival at Pisa (PSA) is a different journey and should be planned separately. A convenient airline label does not establish that the transfer is short or included.
Airport transfers are a separate budget line. Where a reliable fare is not available, Fareveal shows it as unknown rather than zero.
Getting around Florence
The historic-centre itinerary works best as walking clusters: the cathedral area, Piazza della Signoria and the riverside can be grouped without constant vehicle trips. Crossing the Arno opens a different day around Oltrarno, Pitti Palace and Boboli. Check luggage access to the accommodation, especially where the final streets are pedestrian-oriented. Tram usefulness for arrival does not mean every museum is beside a tram platform.
A budget trade-off
A stay near Santa Maria Novella favours rail connections and an uncomplicated arrival; a room in Oltrarno favours evenings across the river. Decide which benefit you will actually use. A Tuscany excursion can displace a substantial part of a short city stay, so compare its transport and pickup arrangements with the museum time it replaces. Avoid buying a broad attraction product just because its list looks longer.
Attractions and discretionary spending
The Uffizi's official ticket page distinguishes the gallery, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens and combined products, with separate eligibility and reservation conditions. Choose the museums first, then compare the relevant ticket. Do not assume that a combined product includes every corridor or special visit. Leave room around the booked museum session for meals and an unhurried river walk instead of stacking timed entries that require a rushed crossing.
Two ways this budget can change
- Art-focused city break: base near the historic centre, book the Uffizi visit that matches your interests, and walk the cathedral and riverside areas around it. Add Pitti or Boboli only if the remaining time supports a proper visit.
- Rail-connected Tuscany stay: choose lodging convenient for Santa Maria Novella, allocate a separate excursion day and keep Florence's museum bookings on a different day. Count the airport tram's last walk and any regional ticket in the transfer plan.
Fees and easy-to-miss costs
