Arriving in Istanbul
Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) are different gateways on different sides of the metropolitan area. The official IST guide identifies the M11 airport metro connection; it is not a route to apply automatically to a SAW arrival. Build the airport journey around the flight booking and final hotel district, with the interchange and luggage movement shown explicitly.
Airport transfers are a separate budget line. Where a reliable fare is not available, Fareveal shows it as unknown rather than zero.
Getting around Istanbul
Istanbul's historic peninsula, Beyoğlu and the Asian-side neighborhoods require deliberate travel planning. Metro, tram and other public services can connect parts of a day, but the correct route depends on which side you start from and where you finish. Avoid a sightseeing schedule that repeatedly reverses across the city. Check current operator routes rather than relying on one generic airport-to-centre instruction.
A budget trade-off
Sultanahmet places the historic-area emphasis close to the room; Beyoğlu supports another urban and evening pattern; Kadıköy and Moda offer a seaside Asian-side base. Match the room choice to the days you want. A convenient neighborhood for your evening meals may still require more morning journeys to historical visits, so compare the whole daily pattern before accepting a room saving.
Attractions and discretionary spending
Topkapı Palace, the Basilica Cistern, the historic bazaars and contemporary museums represent different admission and time commitments. Choose the interiors and tours you want and check current visitor categories directly; do not assume a single city card covers every religious or historical site. A waterside neighborhood session or island excursion adds another kind of day, whose transport belongs separately from central urban rides.

Two ways this budget can change
- For a historic-peninsula break, keep the major Sultanahmet visits together and reserve another session for Beyoğlu. Map the last connection from the airport to the hotel rather than assuming the airport metro arrives at the doorstep.
- For an Asian-side stay, center evenings around Kadıköy or Moda and group European-side visits into deliberate outings. Compare the chosen flight's gateway with that base; cheaper airfare alone does not settle the transfer decision.
Fees and easy-to-miss costs
