Canada trip cost guide
How much does a trip to Montreal cost?
Check the current 747 Downtown terminus, compare Old Montréal and Plateau hotels, and plan Mount Royal, museums and event returns around real journeys.
Lodging-only examples for 3, 5, 7 nights
Planning estimates for two travelers sharing one room, lodging only. They are not live quotes and not a total trip budget: flights, food, transfers, local transport, activities and fees are excluded. A price you enter in the calculator always replaces these estimates. Totals are calculated from the nightly rate and rounded to whole euros.

Arriving in Montreal
Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) has the 747 bus connection into the city, with Downtown and Lionel-Groulx route choices. Select the route for the accommodation and check the current terminus rather than relying on an old map. Tourisme Montréal describes a relocation of the Downtown terminus in 2026. An airport-bus arrival is still only part of a journey to an Old Montréal or Plateau address.
Airport transfers are a separate budget line. Where a reliable fare is not available, Fareveal shows it as unknown rather than zero.
Getting around Montreal
Old Montréal and the Old Port make a coherent walking session, while the Plateau, Mount Royal and other neighbourhoods deserve separate plans. A metro-connected hotel can simplify repeated movement, but check the station and final walk. If using the airport service, verify the accepted ticket and its urban-transit coverage before buying another product. Do not assume that an ordinary local ticket automatically covers an airport-specific bus service.
A budget trade-off
An Old Montréal stay favours historic streets and waterfront evenings, while the Plateau can fit a trip focused on neighbourhood cafes and dining. Compare those priorities with the airport connection and daily routes. A lower room quote farther out may create several extra journeys, especially after an event. For an outing beyond Montréal, include the regional departure and return rather than adding it to the ordinary metro allowance.
Attractions and discretionary spending
Choose museums, a performance, a guided food walk or other ticketed experiences around the neighbourhood days. A Mount Royal session and waterfront exploring can remain flexible, while an event fixes the evening schedule. Compare attraction packages against the places you will actually enter and do not treat an exterior church or historic-street walk as the same product as a guided admission. Allow time for meals instead of filling every gap with another reserved activity.
Two ways this budget can change
- Old Montréal city break: choose the relevant 747 route, check its current Downtown stop and plan the final hotel leg. Combine the Old Port with nearby exploring and reserve the particular museum or event you want.
- Neighbourhood-led visit: base around the Plateau or another preferred district, map airport-to-metro connections and allocate a separate Mount Royal session. Compare the complete repeated transport pattern with a central hotel, including the evening return after events.
Fees and easy-to-miss costs
Fareveal does not yet publish a verified local-fee amount for Montreal. Confirm any mandatory charges on your booking before treating a total as final. Entry and visa rules depend on each traveler.
