India trip cost guide

How much does a trip to New Delhi cost?

Match your DEL terminal to its metro connection. Plan Old Delhi and southern monument days, then separate Agra or Jaipur intercity travel.

Lodging-only examples for 3, 5, 7 nights

Planning estimates for two travelers sharing one room, lodging only. They are not live quotes and not a total trip budget: flights, food, transfers, local transport, activities and fees are excluded. A price you enter in the calculator always replaces these estimates. Totals are calculated from the nightly rate and rounded to whole euros.

Arriving in New Delhi

Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) has terminal-specific metro connections. The airport identifies the Airport Express and Magenta Line in its transport guidance; check the connection for the terminal on your flight booking. A railway journey still needs the onward leg to the hotel. For Connaught Place, a station-area stay or a southern neighbourhood, compare the route to the exact address with a direct road transfer.

Airport transfers are a separate budget line. Where a reliable fare is not available, Fareveal shows it as unknown rather than zero.

Getting around New Delhi

Delhi Tourism publishes a metro itinerary linking stations with sightseeing areas, which is useful for grouping visits. Old Delhi, the central government district and the southern monuments are not one continuous walking route. Make each a separate cluster and allow for the walk or vehicle from the station to the attraction. A metro-linked hotel helps only when the station entrance and daily destinations match your plan.

A budget trade-off

A central base can suit an itinerary split between Old and New Delhi, while a southern stay changes access to Qutub Minar and other southern stops. An airport-area hotel is a different choice again, particularly before an onward flight. Compare these options with the journeys you will actually take. If Agra or Jaipur follows, list the intercity booking separately rather than stretching a Delhi daily estimate to cover it.

Attractions and discretionary spending

Humayun’s Tomb is a garden-mausoleum visit, while Qutub Minar belongs to another sightseeing cluster. Pick a manageable set of monuments and check the official ticket categories for each rather than assuming one price covers all heritage sites. A guided tour should state the places visited and whether admission is included. Leave space for outdoor walks and meals between booked interiors, especially when your plan crosses several metro corridors.

Two ways this budget can change

  • First Delhi visit: group Old Delhi on one day and central or southern monuments on another, choosing accommodation with useful metro access.
  • Golden Triangle start: build the DEL arrival and Delhi hotel plan first, then add separately booked journeys and stays for Agra and Jaipur.

Fees and easy-to-miss costs

Fareveal does not yet publish a verified local-fee amount for New Delhi. Confirm any mandatory charges on your booking before treating a total as final. Entry and visa rules depend on each traveler.

Worth checking

  • Confirm the DEL terminal before selecting a metro route.
  • Add the station-to-hotel leg to the transfer plan.
  • Group attractions by district and metro corridor.
  • Check individual monument ticket categories.
  • Keep Agra and Jaipur travel separate from city transport.
