Taiwan trip cost guide
How much does a trip to Taipei cost?
Plan TPE Airport MRT transfers, compare Ximending and Xinyi hotel access and budget a separate Beitou outing with clear ticket scope.
Lodging-only examples for 3, 5, 7 nights
Planning estimates for two travelers sharing one room, lodging only. They are not live quotes and not a total trip budget: flights, food, transfers, local transport, activities and fees are excluded. A price you enter in the calculator always replaces these estimates. Totals are calculated from the nightly rate and rounded to whole euros.
| Travel style | Per night | 3 nights | 5 nights | 7 nights |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | €65 | €195 | €325 | €455 |
| Normal | €100 | €300 | €500 | €700 |
| Comfort | €165 | €495 | €825 | €1,155 |
| Luxury | €300 | €900 | €1,500 | €2,100 |
Arriving in Taipei
Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) connects with Taipei through the Airport MRT, which is distinct from the city's metro network. Confirm whether your booking uses Taoyuan or the urban Songshan gateway before arranging transport. Taipei Main Station is a useful interchange, but the final route to a hotel in Ximending, Xinyi or another district still belongs in the arrival plan.
Airport transfers are a separate budget line. Where a reliable fare is not available, Fareveal shows it as unknown rather than zero.
Getting around Taipei
Taipei Metro supports a neighbourhood-based itinerary, with transfers linking different parts of the city. Combine nearby streets, food stops and attractions into a coherent outing instead of travelling across town for each meal. An airport-rail product and a city-transport choice may have different coverage, so check the actual ticket and payment arrangements rather than assuming similarly named systems share every entitlement.
A budget trade-off
Ximending offers a different daily setting from Xinyi, while a station-oriented hotel can simplify luggage and onward travel. Choose according to whether the visit centres on neighbourhood food, city architecture, shopping or a wider outing. Beitou should be a deliberate programme rather than squeezed between distant central attractions; compare the journey and the experience you want there before adding paid bookings.
Attractions and discretionary spending
The city's official attraction directory distinguishes areas such as Beitou and Ximending, allowing you to build a trip around specific interests instead of a generic landmark checklist. Select any observation deck, museum or hot-spring experience individually and verify its scope. A neighbourhood walk and an indoor paid attraction contribute differently to the day and should have separate budget entries.

Two ways this budget can change
- A food-and-neighbourhood break can prioritise Ximending or useful central metro access and group evening eating with nearby city walks.
- A mixed city-and-Beitou stay can give Beitou its own outing, choosing any paid experience separately from the transport needed to reach it.
Fees and easy-to-miss costs
Fareveal does not yet publish a verified local-fee amount for Taipei. Confirm any mandatory charges on your booking before treating a total as final. Entry and visa rules depend on each traveler.
Worth checking
- Confirm TPE or Songshan before selecting an airport route.
- Plan the transfer beyond the Airport MRT arrival station.
- Check airport-rail and city-ticket coverage separately.
- Group Ximending, Xinyi and Beitou days geographically.
- Verify the scope of deck, museum or hot-spring bookings.
